The Academy welcomes Shannon Orr as its Director. Coach Orr, holder of a National "A" Coaching License, will use his unique brand of energy, enthusiasm, and experience to bring together and awaken the "Sleeping Giant" that is Soccer in East Texas!

Coach Orr has installed the tried, true, and internationally recognized "Soccer Academy" model which builds players, coaches, and communities. It is the same model he installed successfully in clubs and schools throughout the United States.

Tyler Junior College & its Head Soccer Coach Steve Clements, have "stepped up" to provide their nationally recognized soccer talent and coaching, as well as their amazing facility, to continue making the bridge from recreational to competitive soccer in East Texas.

Goals & Objectives

To create an educational resource for the East Texas soccer community.

To prepare the U-9 / U-10 recreational soccer player for the requirements of U-11 competitive soccer.

To assist aspiring recreational soccer coaches in creating the ideal learning environment by modeling proper coaching methods.

Methods

Train players by providing the skills and technical foundation necessary for success at the next level of competition.

Encourage players to use these skills in a controlled and competitive small-sided game/activity environment on a weekly basis.

Coaches will monitor and record the progress of individual players of an entire age group in order to match them with a team which reflects each player’s developmental, performance, and skill level.

Benefits

Allows for the formation of open roster Academy Teams, thereby maximizing playing opportunities for each player. It also avoids the formation of "closed" roster "select" teams prior to U-11.

The Academy promotes recreational leagues and makes them a viable option for players and families who do not wish to play competitive soccer or travel out of town.

Strengthens the recreational leagues by developing the players, educating the coaches, and balancing the level of play in the league.
